Problem
Nico earns per hour. One week he worked ordinary hours, hours at time-and-a-half, and hours at double time. Calculate his total pay for that week.
1
Calculate the ordinary pay.
\text{Ordinary pay} = $28.00 \times 38 = $1\,064.00
2
Calculate the time-and-a-half rate, then the time-and-a-half pay.
\text{Time-and-a-half rate} = $28.00 \times 1.5 = $42.00\text{/hr} \\ \text{Time-and-a-half pay} = $42.00 \times 3 = $126.00
3
Calculate the double-time rate, then the double-time pay.
\text{Double-time rate} = $28.00 \times 2 = $56.00\text{/hr} \\ \text{Double-time pay} = $56.00 \times 2 = $112.00
4
Add all three components to find the total pay.
\text{Total pay} = $1\,064.00 + $126.00 + $112.00 = $1\,302.00
